Future Residents
Hesperus Village is home to nearly 100 senior residents living across its two wings, Hesperus East and Hesperus West. Each side of our facility offers uniquely designed units with a variety of floor plans, ranging from cozy studios to comfortable 2-bedroom suites. Throughout the facility, there are communal spaces which can be used by all residents regardless of which building you live in. Hesperus Village’s communal spaces, include a dining room, seminar room, exercise room, library, and lounge, all set amidst our peaceful grounds with access to natural surroundings and a community garden. Residents are invited to participate in Hesperus Village’s active community life by taking part in any of the resident-led circles. Residents are also invited to take initiative and explore ways to share their gifts - or discover new ones! Most importantly, residents are encouraged to find ways to cultivate meaningful relationships and continue to engage in their own personal journeys during this important stage of life.
Hesperus East
This building was constructed in 1987. Each unit in Hesperus East (the original building) features a kitchen, private bathroom and electric baseboard heating. These units do not have air conditioning. Main floor apartments offer walk-out access to Hesperus Village’s grounds with private garden areas that residents may choose to cultivate. The laundry room in Hesperus East is conveniently located on the 2nd floor. This is a supportive housing building and priority goes to seniors who meet the financial eligibility requirements and who also require assistance with daily living. Half of the units in Hesperus East are rent-geared-to-income, ensuring accessibility and affordability for eligible residents. Eligibility for living in Hesperus East is based on financial and health care needs.
Hesperus West
Hesperus West was constructed in 2011 and offers more modern apartments with kitchenettes (there are no stoves in these units). Central heating and cooling are provided year-round, and residents can enjoy the convenience of a laundry room and lounge located on the main floor. Half of the units in Hesperus West are offered through a rent-assisted program managed by York Region, ensuring accessibility and affordability for eligible residents. Eligibility to live at Hesperus West is primarily based on financial eligibility.
